The UN's International Conference on Financing for Development was held from 18-22 March 2002 in Monterrey, Mexico. Over 50 Heads of State or Government and over 200 ministers gathered to discuss financial and development issues of fundamental importance. The conference was also attended by leaders from the private sector, civil society and international institutions. The outcome of this conference was the 'Monterrey Consensus', in which countries pledged to undertake major new actions for financing development. The UN High Level Dialogue on Financing for Development, which met most recently in October 2007, concerns how aid may be increased and delivered more effectively. The Third High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Accra and the 'Monterrey follow-up' conference in Doha will both to be held in 2008.
