On Tuesday 10 June, Eurostep and the South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradication (SAAPE) organised a roundtable meeting entitled "EU Budget Review: Consolidation of the Budget for Development Co-operation" in the context of the ongoing EU budget review and the Commission's call for submission of public inputs. The event was facilitated by Europe External Policy Advisors (EEPA).

The roundtable resulted in interactive deliberations between civil society representatives from South Asia, Latin America and the European Neighbourhood Policy countries, and members from the Commission, the Parliament, Member States, African embassies and European NGOs.

It addressed the anomaly in the EU budget whereby the provisions for development co-operation are not presented under the heading for "development cooperation", and identified the importance of a consolidation of the EU budget for development co-operation under one heading in order to increase the visibility of the EU's extensive contribution to development co-operation as one of the largest donors.
