EEAS. Much Ado About Nothing |

After spending the last six month following closely the negotiations on the establishment of the European External Action Service, Stefani Weiss, Director of the organisation Europe´s Future Programme, lays emphasis on the fact that European institutions were more self-serving.
Her report highlighted the fact that the European institutions seem uninterested in working together to shape a service with which the EU will become fit for 21st century external policies.

Speech by High Representative Catherine Ashton to the European Parliament on the creation of the European External Action Service Strasbourg, 07 July 2010.
Ms. Ashton laid out her vision for the EEAS in the future and emphasised that in a fast changing geopolitical landscape, the EEAS will be very important for the EU.

The EU – Zimbabwe political dialogue |

Last Friday, the Vice President/High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton and Commissioner for Development, Andris Piebalgs met with a Ministerial Delegation from the Zimbabwean Government in the framework of the Political Dialogue, as foreseen in the Cotonou Agreement, which was re-launched in June last year.

Dialogue between Zimbabwe and the European Union (EU) to explore ways of normalising relations between the two sides will resume following EU has sent an invitation to Zimbabwe's ministerial team.
The dialogue will take place on the second of July in Brussels.
